Utopia Team Rider Carl Schlact sets the example.
MTF WELCOMES NEW ACADEMIC TUTOR
MTF now has a full time tutor to assist with online schooling. Carl Schlact, a 25 year old native of Cleveland, Ohio will offer group tutorials to all of MTF’s school age riders so they not only complete their online schooling but, as Carl states, “finish ahead of time and with excellent grades”. One side of a bunkhouse has been converted for use as a classroom, complete with dry erase board.
Both Colleen and Carl believe that getting kids in a “classroom” environment will motivate them and keep them focused because, as one rider noted, “it’s hard to do algebra when your friends are out on the pit bike track”. The set times of a classroom tutorial also take some of the pressure off parents who no longer have to chase down their kid and stand over them as they do online assignments.
Carl Schlact was an honor student in high school and completed 4 years of college education. He also happens to be a 450 supercross privateer and will compete in the 2010 AMA Supercross Series. He is committed to seeing every rider succeed in the classroom because he knows better than most that only a very few will make a living from motocross.
